Mindful Hula Dance Workshop for Beginners (3 hours)  Instructor: Sarah Evans

Hula is the cultural dance of the Hawaiian people.  The movements in this traditional dance reflect our natural environment: the play of the wind through the trees, sound of the ocean as it breaks through shore, how the lava flows as it creates new earth.  The hula dancer is an instrument, conveying the natural beauty of our world and connecting us more deeply to the elements all around and within us. Hula is life expressed through movement.

Sarah’s path led her to Halau I Ka Pono in 2011, with no dance experience and absolutely no understanding what hula truly was. Resonating with the gentle movements and the positive learning environment cultivated by Kumu June, she felt an immediate connection to hula as a healing art.  With 16 years experience teaching Anatomy, Kinesiology, Bodywork and Self Care (yoga, meditation, breathwork), she brings a passion for healing to the beautiful, nurturing art of hula.
